This is an excerpt from some Peachland Newsletter. Read the description at the top and then the question and answer within the blue circle. Priceless. Anyone care to take a guess on who that student was?

just some cute pics

So during Thanksgiving break Carly invited me to go to Underwood Farms with her and the Binghams. Here are some cute pictures of the girls. They loved it! Despite Cadence's breakdown in the second picture and Maya kinda biffed up her face a little. Anyways, enjoy!

Senior Citizen

It's official. Dad can move into the assisted living center down the street and order discount meals at IHOP. He can also start eating his dinners around 4:30 pm and go to bed at 7 pm.

His walker is being custom made to break down into a small package so that he can fit it into his back pack on long runs.

Congratulations Dad. Happy Birthday!

Castaic Lake Boy Scout Triathlon

I friend shot pix of me in the September 25, 2009 Castaic Lake Boy Scout Triathlon. I was out of the water in the bottom third but made it up to about 25th place (top quarter) in the biking segment.

There was a mike open during the awards ceremony and I was standing next to the speakers. I could hear somebody in the distance say: "Did you see that Bob Crockett? He kicked everybody's butts on the bike. He's the oldest guy out there."

Tadd and Nate did a team run; they beat me by a little.

Casey beat me; he came in fourth in the adult division.

Family History

Now that I've been released I'm going to turn to digitizing our thousands of family photos. I've half-heartedly done some of that in the last six years. It is a lot of work. Scanners are still really slow and the software not cooperative.

My cousin Bruce Brereton (on the Crockett side, he was a Wordperfect millionaire in the 1980s and retired young) sent me some family photos which I post here. I'll take these down after a few weeks because they take some much space.

Some comments: Debora Ann Wright, photo 1840, was my great-grandmother's (Margaret Biggs Comish) grandmother.

My grandparents were Earl and Della (Comish) Crockett. They had the following children: Marian, Robert (Bob), David and Margaret.

Earl obtained his doctorate at Berkeley and taught in North Dakota and the University of Colorado after being strongly encouraged by the Church's Trustees to come to BYU in around 1959. BYU was then not fully accredited and Earl was an accreditation expert, sitting on a national accreditation committee.

Note the great shot of my great grandfather George Comish at the Salt Lake temple in 1952. He died in 1955. I don't remember him. Too bad my parents didn't get a picture of him holding me.

In 1957 my uncle Dave came to Germany to tour German with us when we lived there.

When we returned from Germany, one of the first things we had was a family reunion in 1960. Lots of shots there.

There are lots of shots in 1972 at my grandparents' 50th anniversary. I am notably not there, having been exiled to El Paso.

There is a 1974 photo of my grandparents, my uncle Dave and my aunt Geneve. I remember aunt Geneve well; she was my grandmother's sister. She was very quiet. There's a great picture from 1960 of my grandmother and her sisters Reata and Geneve.

There is a 1975 photo "1975 Della Marian Carol Margaret" Carol Brereton is my first cousin and I was quite close to her when the two of us attended BYU in 1973. We hit it off when we had to register for classes. I used to complain about her boyfriends and she would tell me to mind my own business.

There are lots of pictures of Margaret (Meg), my aunt. She lives close to me; in Santa Barbara County. My uncle Dave worked for HP and then started his owned business and became extremely successful. He was the inventor of the "Crockett Box," an acoustic coupling telephone modem. My Aunt Marian passed away at an early age in the 1980s. Her husband, Don Brereton, was an executive for G.E. in Schenectady.

More Grand Canyon Pictures

I finally have a free moment to post some pictures from the trip.

Mom, Whitney, and I went on a hike down to Roaring Springs, about 5 miles down into the canyon. It took us 6 hours in the heat of the day. I got mild heat exhaustion. Mom crushed me. Whitney would have kept up but she felt sorry for me and stayed back with me. Dad did the same hike in 3 hours in the late afternoon/evening.

Our campsite. Exciting.

Cindy talked Tadd down from a ledge. Glad you didn't go through with it Tadd. I don't care what everyone says at school, I like you.

We had our best view of the canyon at the end of a 2 mile hike. 270 degree view.

You can see the Colorado here.

Cindy was a blast the entire trip and definitely had the best attitude out of everyone.

Whitney and I went on a little hike the next day after everyone left. Then we went out to Lake Powell, which was a blast. Check out our blog soon (hopefully) for pictures of the rest of our vacation.

Happy Birthday Whitney!

Sorry Kel, I don't mean to steal your thunder, but this might be the only moment I have to post and say happy birthday to my beautiful wife. We are out on Lake Powell for the 4th. Happy Birthday Whit, you are the best thing in my life. I completely endorse my younger brother's statements that you saved me from being a terrible person all my life. I love you. Happy 26th!

Happy Birthday Kelli!

Didn't see the new post, so thought I would throw this up here. Happy 21!
